Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

To summarize this thread:

Problem: Wrong posts being marked as solved / No posts being marked as solved.

Solution: Provide better awareness to OPs about marking posts as Solved. Allow Guru's to manage solved threads.

I like it. :smileyhappy: We'll discuss the feasibility internally. In the meanwhile, here's a job for you all to work on together.

The text in Yank's example is a bit lengthy. The more succinct, the better the chance a first-timer will read it / comprehend it / follow it. Think you all can come up with some text we can use? :smileywink:

Cheers!

Dave

Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

How about this:

Solutions

If the problem you started a thread for has been solved, please help others find what worked by marking it as the Solution. You're the only one who can do this!

Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

Glad to see DistEd2 is thinking like an NCO now!  :smileywink:

Here's another idea!  Come on folks - rememeber I said collectively reword, we need your help!

The Originl Poster (OP) is the only one who can mark a post as solved.  If you are the OP, please select the post you feel provided the best answer.

[ Edited ]

Only the author of this thread can mark the problem as solved. If you are the author and the problem is solved let everyone know by marking that message as the solution.

[observation]

I'm seeing the 'accept as solution' button on all but the first message in this thread. What's up doc?:smileysurprised:

It also appears in other threads I'm reading.

Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

I've just noticed the same. I'm guessing the Symantec folks move fast, and have delegated Solution management privileges to all Gurus.

Are any of our resident not-yet-Gurus seeing "Accept as Solution" buttons in other people's threads...?

Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

Yes, indeed you will have to be careful. Be VERY careful.

Congratulations! Guru's can now mark posts as the Solution. And can revoke Solutions for those misclassified.

Please give customers time to reply and mark their own threads as solved before jumping the gun. It looks bad when they come back and say "That didn't solve my problem, why is it marked Solved?"

And also only mark it solved if you are 100% certain that is the correct solution.

Cheers

Can I say 'thank you' for giving us permission to walk on the ice and then handing us a blowtorch? :smileysurprised:

Re: RE: A Concern.....or Not?

Let's shorten it some more.

Please click "Accept as Solution" in the post that best answers your question.
