RE: Keep Me Signed In

Why does this not work?  I tick "Keep me signed in" but it doesn't work.  I literally have to sign out, so I can sign in again.  Itwould be really nice to get some these things fixed.

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Hi Del,

What browser/version are you using? Could you provide screenshots? Have you reproduced on other browsers?

We can't reproduce here, and I suspect by the lack of replies to this thread that it isn't happening for others either.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Hi Dave:

It occurs on XP SP3 on my work machine using IE7 and recently IE8, as well as on Win 7 using Firefox 3.6.3.  I have had comments on several occasions from other users stating that I showed as offline, when I was online.  I can't imagine that it effects only my assorted machines, with assorted operating systems, and assorted browsers.

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Dave,

This happens all the time and has been noticed before but nothing is / has been done about it.  IE8 / IE7 / FF 3.x on my end; Vista / Win7 32bit.  It only happens after you are inactive for sometime.  The Forum seems to let you look at and post on threads but forgets to show you as signed in (listed) on the active / signed in User list.  It seems you are still logged in as far as posting goes but you do not show up as having Online status to anyone else.  I will post screen shots this evening as I'm sure it will happen again.

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Hi Dave:

I am attaching two screen prints of being offline.  One shows the users online, of which I am not one.  The time shows in the clock at the bottom which is Pacific Standard Time.  The other is an image of a reply to a post that I was able to make while showing as offline.  Nothing I do clocks me back in again.  I have to sign out, and then sign back in.

There will be some delay while the Mods approve my screenshots.

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Another interesting question might be why KenB is showing logged on for 1315 minutes, all of them idle, while I am posting this info and still show as not online.  Oddly enough, if I click on my user name, it accurately shows me as being here as of 10:41.

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Sorry for the additional questions; I want to put a fine-point on the issue so it'll be easier to track the cause. From what you've posted, it seems to be that the "keep me signed in" isn't so much the problem as is the accuracy of the "Online Indicator". Is that correct? It seems that the online status of forum members is in question. Let me know if I'm getting warmer, I'd like to isolate this issue so we can have the team check it out. Thanks!

Re: RE: Keep Me Signed In

Hi Tony:

Yes, it does keep me signed in, and yes, it is the online status that does not seem to coordinate itself to the sign in.  It would appear that if the setting is not ticked, the user is logged off after a period of inactivity.  If the setting is ticked, it may be that there is an automatic re-sign in function that is not working correctly. Shortly after I posted this thread, I ended up logged in twice.

There have always been errors in the login function that seem to have followed all of the forum changes and updates.
