There seems to be a few people stuck in an endless sign-on position including myself. It is causing some confusion as people that are looking for me don't know if I am online or not.
Is this a glitch that can be corrected? Is there a log-out technique that I am missing. I just can't get me of the users online list.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now ready for take-off. We would like to remind you that smoking and flaming are prohibited on all boards of this forum. We wish you an enjoyable flight with Norton Airlines.

Users can get 'stuck' in the online list for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they have auto-refresh set on their forum profile. Sometimes they have a browser add-in or a browser add-in that is mis-behaving. Sometimes due to an internet error the server gets confused and won't expire a session.
I just expired your login cookie on this side, that may correct the problem or it may not. I don't know when the next server restart will occur, we have no control over that, but it may also resolve at that time. Another thing that might work is to logout of the forum using the logout link, and don't log back in for again for at least 60 minutes and make sure to clear your cookies before coming back.
For preventitive medicine, always use the 'logout' link when leaving.
You also have the ability to control whether you are visible in the online list as well. Click 'My profile' in the upper left section of any forums page, change to the 'preferences' tab and scroll down about 2/3 of the way to find Online Status.
Sorry that there is not a better solution for you, we don't have a tool that allows us to remove those unexpired sessions directly and the folks that manage the servers and databases won't chase them as its deemed very minor.
Thanks for asking tho, the solution may have been easily answered.

Thanks Allen_K.
I never thought of hiding my presence when I get stuck on there. That would solve the problem when it happens. I try to always log out properly when I leave, even on separate tabs if necessary. But if I forget, there is a solution. ![]()

Closing all other tabs and then clicking logout on the last should suffice. In theory just closing the last tab will also work, as the session should expire... but that's where the trouble starts I believe......
