Would be helpfull to have the opportunity to use weblinks in your signature

yeah, and I also can't put html code in there either, at least not from my account on skitch.com

HTML code could be used to exploit the system and create malicious code. Whilst it can be hand coded to stop the script tags and the suchlike, it is much safer just to disable it entirely.
 
As for weblinks, this will cause spamming of redirects to referrals or illegal/innapropriate material that would be harder to moderate.
