Re: Toparcadehits

Download this and run it on the desktop.   http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

It will create a log after.

Re: Toparcadehits

The popups appear to have stopped and things seem to be normal, however, I can see that TopArcadeHits is still listed as installed when I view the list of programs via control panel. Interestingly, its icon has changed from when I first saw it before my first post - it was a triangular hat thing, and now it's a mini web browser - not sure if that means anything!

[ Edited ]

It should be a dead uninstall entry. Due to I have removed Files / Folders.

If you click on it and Windows can't do anything, Windows 7 should then give you the option to remove the entry from the list. Here is a screenshot below I have just created and inserted in.

Re: Toparcadehits

Please read carefully and Slowly, Notice all the settings listed below to check before starting the scan.

Take note of the NO tick in the Remove found threats setting below

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan

  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on Posted Image to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check Posted Image and DON'T (NO) check Remove found threats (reason for this is we don't want something deleted and then Windows won't load).
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • Attach the resulting log in your next reply

The scanner screen gives me the option of downloading the results to a .txt file as part of the options after the scan has finished.

Re: Toparcadehits

Hi, just as I was about to do this, Windows automatically shut down and installed some Windows updates. I just want to check that it's still ok to do the latest scan before I go ahead. Thanks

Re: Toparcadehits

Do the ESET  scan with the settings etc given above after Windows has done its updates.
