I ran LiveUpdate. It did a large download and needed restart - did so and it should be uptodate but I ran LUD again to make sure ... and it seemed to download the same massive set of updates so I ran it again .... for 5 repeats and it still does not tell me I am uptodate.
Anyone else experiencing this. It does not seem to match other reports here.
-------------------------------
I just rebooted and ran LUD again in case the updates needed a restart but didn't say so -- no change; it still runs a considerable number of downloads and reports the same.

Hi,
can you please let us know which Norton or other product was on your machine previously?
Thanks!
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 Hungarian, Norton 360 v20.3.1.22, Norton Utilities 16

I've had Norton 360 on this machine for 2 1/2 years - no problem prior to this. It is v5.1.0.29. It has always updated properly prior to this. I have scanned from online scanner, done everything support has offered. When I go into liveupdate it says it is downloading updates, processing updates, then "to receive most current updates you must restart your system". I've downloaded and restarted at least 10 times. There are 6 updates starting with "Norton 2011 iron revocation list" to "Norton Pulse Updates". I'm just not getting anywhere.

I've never run anything but Norton 360 on this machine aside from an online scanner (Trend).

Welcome,
Sorry this problem is ongoing. When you uninstalled trend did you also go to their site and get their removal tools and run them so that all traces of that program were removed prior to the installation of 360? If not please do that first then after rebooting run the remove and reinstall tool from Norton which you will find here:
http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_ty
This step is necessary to insure that 360 will not remain corrupted by the remains of trend. Be sure to run live update and reboot until the program tells you that all updates have been downloaded and installed.

Downloaded NRnR.exe to desktop. I get an error message when trying to install:
C:\Documents and Settings\Connie\Desktop\NRnR.exe is not a valid Win32 application
Now what?
Thanks

Hi,
Now what? The problem isn't 360. I think you are going to need access to another computer that is working correctly. On that computer you need to download the Norton Pwer Eraser and the free version of Malwarebytes scanner. Start your computer in safe mode and run either one and then reboot and run the other one. That should clear the trash from your computer. To confirm this restart your computer and see if your can download and run the Remove and Reinstall Tool.

No malware, no viruses - uninstalled 360 then reinstalled - working now - thanks so much.
