360 v4 direct links?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

can you tell us the direct links for the new release?

Like the older ones we could give the users by v3.0: www.norton.com/n360s_3 and www.norton.com/n360p_3

Plus an other question:

When I downloaded the 360 4.0 trial from here (http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/sat5/ec_main.entry25?page=TrialwareEU2&client=Symantec&sid=27684&CUR...), the downloaded package was 95,6MB, but I saw on one of your page* what was linked in an other topic, that the file size of 360 4.0 is under 80MB... So what is the extra 15-20MB in this package?

Thanks!

PapauZ

EDIT: * http://www.symantec.com/norton/downloads/trialsoftware/index.jsp  (79,09MB)

Yes, I can also confirm this - the localised language is recognised. However, what if you want to download Norton in another language? We've had posters coming here asking how to switch the languages of their Norton product, and for that, they need a different-language Norton installation package altogether.

You only need just change the default language of the browser.

In IE8 you need to do these steps:

1. Open an IE window

2. On the menu click on Tools -> Internet Options

3. On the General tab click on the Languages button (at the bottom)

4. Click on the Add button

5. Find the language you need, click OK

6. Move up the added language

7. Click OK, again OK

8. Go to the Symantec download page, and get the setup package

9. Open the language options again to revert back to the original language (move to the top the original)

Thanks, PapauZ :-)

However, I do not think switching browser languages is very convenient, and it is even more complicated for Firefox users (separate downloading of language packs [US-English language pack is not available, by the way...] plus installation of an extension which allows switching between the Firefox browser interface languages). I regard it as a disadvantage to have the Norton installer language dependent on the browser language, especially if the user is multilingual and/or wants to switch the language of the Norton product. In such cases, instead of just indicating the direct links to the desired language version of a Norton product, we will have to do the following:

1) ask which browser the user has

2) tell the user how to change the browser language

3) tell the user to verify that the language abbreviation (e.g. "CZ" for Czech following the build number) is correct

Lol, after searching around in the mozilla forums, I managed to dig up the equivalent of the language settings in Internet Explorer (without changing the interface language). So now I have to translate...:

In Firefox, to download the desired language version of Norton 360 version 4, go to Extras - Settings - Content - Languages - Select; choose desired language (=language in which you want your Norton 360 version 4 installer), use the "Up" button to get it to the very top of the language list, and click on OK.

However, now I am just the same thinking of uninstalling my German Firefox and installing the US English Firefox to get the English interface language....
