Is the only real difference between Norton 360 V5 and Norton 360 Premier V5, the ability to use the backup feature and the PC Tuneup? I don't use either and why pay for the extra features?

Both Norton 360 v5 and Norton 360 v5 Premier include Online backup, and PC Tuneup utilities.
The only difference is, v5 comes with 2gb of online storage space for your backup, and the premier version comes with 25gb of online storage space. Here is a comparison chart:

And if you don't really need the utilities .... why not get NIS and pay less for the more uptodate system, at least until N360 V6 is released?

I was trying to talk my brother into going with NIS2011 instead of Norton 360 Premier v5, since he doesn't use the backup or tuneup features,to save him a few dollars, but he decided to stay with 360.. I tried and thanks for both of your responses..

Norton 360 is a product that I use, because I like the tuneup utilities and also the backup service all being integrated into one program, instead of seperate.
Once version 6 comes out, both NIS and N360 will have the latest technology.
There's nothing wrong with the choice he made...he just has some extras he might not use

Well it's his PC .... and if he doesn't like tweaking settings then N360 has an advantage of simplicity and NOT having things to turn off <g>
