Addware on Computer

I have Norton 360 on my computer and I have addware. I ran the full system scan for virus and Malware yesterday and it did not take care of it.  Thanks

Re: Addware on Computer

My advice is to post more information. What is your operating system, what is the version of Noton. How do you identify that you have addware? Can you download, install and run malwarebytes?

Re: Addware on Computer

I have Windows 7 and Norton 360. I have these links showing up in the text, for instance in your post Norton is underlined and there is a add there. I don't click on it, but if I get close with the cursor it shows up. Somone else suggested Maywarbytes or Ad-aware. Will it interfere with the Norton?

Hi BrendaEllegood,

This sounds like the Text Enhance browser add-on (or something similar):

Malwarebytes will not interfere with Norton if you use trial version only. Malwarebytes is a standalone, non resident, scanner and fixer. You can search this forum or google and download directly from Malwarebytes website. Yes do check text exhancers and how to remove them.

Thanks for the link. I think I am rid of it on Firefox, but it is still on Internet Explorer. Thank you all so much for your help. I use Firefox mostly, but it doesn't work for some sites I use for work. I will work on the programs in IE tomorrow. I am tired tonight.

It's me again. I think I uninstalled the culprit. I don't see the adds in your posts above. I can't think you'll enough.

Re: Addware on Computer

I have the same problem but the link does not provide a solution. I am running Windows 7 and IE9. I disabled the add-ons as the link suggests but the ad links keep appearing. Why doesn't Symantec fix this? I bought Norton 360 to stop this sort of thing.

Welcome,
Your 360 is very good at stopping viruses from infecting your computer. It is not quite as good at keeping adware and malware out. For those types of problems I usually recommend a full scan using a program like Malwarebytes free scanner

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

It's Norton compatible and it makes a great second opinion scanner.

No single security product will keep you safe from all of the threats that are being created and released by the minute. Keep your operating system and security program current and always keep your chair/keyboard interface fully engaged.

Stay well and surf safe
