Backup not registering. 360 claims backup not completed even after it is completed!

Recently, out of the blue, I started seeing a red X on my 360 tray icon claiming my system status is "At Risk!" because "Your backup has not completed recently. Please backup now or change your backup settings."

This is despite the fact that I have indeed run my backup (several times) and it shows the backup as completed, yet I still keep getting the red X and the "At Risk" warning!

Any help with this issue would be appreciated!

Can you try the solution as given in the following thread?

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Cannot-run-backup-to-WD-My-Book-after-installing-360-V-5-0...

Let us know if this worked for you.

I tried this but my 360 still says I am "at risk" and that "Your backup has not completed recently. Please backup now or change your backup settings."

This doesn't make sense as everything worked fine with Norton backup until about a month ago.

The problem seems to have been fixed ... I had to uninsatt & reinstall Norton 360 and so far it seems to working okay.

Re: Backup not registering. 360 claims backup not completed even after it is completed!

I thought my problem had been fixed but it's back!

The problem is that after running a backup, I get the message "Your backup has not completed recently. Please backup now or change your backup settings."

I tried doing this:  http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Backup-at-risk-warning-stays-on/m-p/177646#M23809

Try to run a manual backup for a single file/folder to any of your internal drives(C:\, D:\)- you can add a single file or folder to backup and uncheck other categories from the Backup Settings. When this backup completes, Norton 360 should recognize it and will no more prompt you for backup.

1. Right-click on your desktop, select New Text File. Rename it as Test file.

2. Go to Backup settings, under What tab, uncheck all other files and folders.

3. Click Add a File and select the Test file from your desktop.

4. Under Where tab, select any of your internal drives(local harddrive).

5. Under When tab, select Manual Backup and click Save Settings.

6. Click Run Backup Now. Check whether the backup completes successfully and let us know the results

That didn't work so I tried this:  https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=20090702152705EN&lg=engl...

1. Start Norton 360.
2. Click Tasks.
3. Click Manage Backup Sets.
4. On the What tab, check the drives or My Documents under Backup sources, from where you want to backup files or folders.
5. Under What File Types, click Add a File, and then select any new file from your computer.
6. Click Save Settings.
7. Click Run Backup Now.
8. When the backup completes, click Close.

That was no help either so I called Norton 360 support and the technician was unable to solve the problem so she uninstalled and reinstalled my Norton 360.

That was a week ago and I thought the problem was solved, but now, today, I am again getting the message "Your backup has not completed recently. Please backup now or change your backup settings."

The only difference is before the uninstall/reinsatll I was getting a System Status message of "At Risk!"

Now my System Status says "Attention."

But either way, when I run a backup, either automatically or manually, despite the backup window telling me my backups were completed, 360 is telling me "Your backup has not completed recently. Please backup now or change your backup settings."

I don't get it.

I am running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2 on a Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop.  As far as I can tell my PC is not infected by any virus and everything else seems to be working fine.

These conflicting messages coming from my 360 software has me wondering if anything is being backed-up or not.

There is the window telling me my backup(s) "Succeeded":

Here's what I see after running back up:

Re: Backup not registering. 360 claims backup not completed even after it is completed!

Now my product has gone from telling me it needs my "attention" back to that I am "At Risk!"

This is despite all the steps I have taken to deal with this issue and the fact that when I run a back up it claims the back up has "succeeded."

Am I the only one dealing with this problem?

No you are not the only person encountering this situation.  There is another thread here:  http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/Norton-Security-Suite-Backup-Completes-but-mess...

Although it is on the Other Norton Products board and is concerning Norton Security Suite it is in fact the same problem.  The only difference between NSS and N 360 is that NSS does not come with the free on line storage capability.

You may want to go to that and read thru what has been discussed there.  It may trigger something, as it is an older thread that the OP has not reposnded to, but Dave_H and I have been comparing notes and doing some brain-storming on the thread.

Can you try creating new backup set in Norton 360?

You can refer to the steps mentioned below:

Thanks,
