Bloodhound on Windows 7

Hi,

Last evening I was looking on the security history of my computer (I'm using Norton 360), and I found that my computer had the virus "Bloodhound.exploit.281", and Norton 360 quarantined it. I looked for some information about this virus in the threat explorer in Norton.com, and I saw that the systems that can be affected by this virus are: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, and I would like to know if "windows NT" includes windows 7, or just windows NT 4.0 and earlier.

Thank you,

Yair

Re: Bloodhound on Windows 7

Hi Yairku,

NT does not, to my knowledge, include win 7. The likely reason for win 7 not being included seperately there is because the virus was found before Win 7 was actually created. This however does not mean that it cannot be infected by the virus (which, by the way, is a generic detection - so it detects multiple virii that are of the same family, or have similar behaviours, using one definition), but it also does not mean that the threat will be fully operational on Win 7, although it most likely will.

I hope my answer is satisfactory :-)

Hi yairku

Windows NT is a very old Microsoft operation System that was mainly used by businesses (Server and Workstation). Operating systems do not contain copies of other operatiing systems so when a list of affected systems does not include Windows 7 then it is not affected by the issue..

Hello Yairku

It is also possible that information on the Norton site hasn't been updated yet or was created before Win 7 came out.
