I mean like a boot scan for example it scans before windows has started up, I used to do it with avast and moved to norton.

Hi
In Avast the Boot time Scan will show the Scan Window. But in Norton the scan will Run in the Background, which means you'll not be able to see the scanning window. The Boot Time Protection in Norton takes care of it. In case if the Computer is not able to boot and you want to run a Virus Scan to make sure if it is caused by a virus or not, you can try our Norton Bootable Recovery Tool.

Hi
Setting the Norton's Boot Time Protection Setting to Aggressive mode will Provide maximum protection during your computer start time. This option ensures complete protection during the boot time as Auto-Protect starts functioning as soon as you start your computer. By switching to Aggressive mode you might feel a little bit increase in your Computers Boot Time/Startup Time.

I mean I'm on the lines of running the most indepth virus scan not a constant protection, like for example with avast i used to run my virus scan before the computer booted, what should I do with norton.. I've just been doing the full scan but I thought it'd be better to run it before the computer started like avast.
sorry for the confusion.

Sorry if I'm not clear in my previous posts. I meant in my posts that the Boot Time Protection is automatic in Norton. Everytime you turn the Computer ON it scans automatically. The only thing you miss out is the Scaning window. I hope this clears your Confusion.

I get where you're coming at, but I used to do like a full system scan from the boot menu "before it booted" as I thought this was the most thorough way to scan, which I was trying to find a way to do it with norton. ?
thanks for ur help.

My question really is.. is running a full virus scan when your computer is booting like i used to do in avast the most thorough way to scan? because I haven't been able to figure out how to do that in norton and have just been doing the full system scan while my pc is on.
sorry for all the questions.
