I have uninstalled Norton 360 from my desktop computer running Windows XP after my subscription expired, intending to install Norton Internet Security, only to find that my CD drive will not work. I get a message that the driver may be corrupted, and driver must be reinstalled (error 39). But, since I can't use my CD drive, I can't reinstall the driver. Thinking that the problem may have been longstanding, I did the same uninstallion procedure on my laptop running Windows 7, only to get the same corrupted driver error message when I try to install Internet Security. I know that drive was working a few days ago, and have found that other forum members have had the same problem. Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem?

Hi Gunman.
For your Windows XP computer you can make use of the link mentioned below which is a Microsoft Knowledge base article:
hxxp://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060, (replace the hxxp with http).
Make use the Microsoft fix it tool, or else you can follow the manual steps mentioned under the Windows XP portion of the article.
The Windows 7 Hardware troubleshooter can help you fix this for the Windows 7 computer.

You can have http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 in this case as the link goes to another webpage or webspace it's not a direct download., where if you click on the link a file downloads onto your computer. Like http:......................................./progr
