Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Is GMER able to run,  You may have to do the scan in Safe Mode, if Normal Mode doesn't work

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Hey,

Sorry I didn't reply quicker-Been having trouble w/my wireless connection and scanning w/gmer.  Haven't been able to connect to IExp or OExp in safe mode.  Tried gmer scan a couple times normal mode and after 5 min or so, computer shuts down after a very quick view of a light blue DOS screen.

Clueless in Wesley Chapel:-(:smileysad:

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

I haven't been able to connect to internet from safe mode; hence, couldn't run the scan.

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Once GMER is downloaded you can reboot to Safe Mode

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Same thing happened in safe mode-scan runs for a few minutes, then computer shuts off.

I've attached the Windows Error Reporting page blue screen.

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Hi

See you're getting advice from Quads, he's a lot more knowlegeable on this sort of thing than I am.

Did you remove Stopzilla as he suggested ?

Also have you been able to download/load and run Gmer as he suggested yet ?

You could possibly have a Rootkit problem.

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Geez,

1. "Also have you been able to download/load and run Gmer as he suggested yet ?"   Well read the persons posts above, it gives you the answer about Running GMER twice in Normal Mode

To the person with the problem.

1. What is the actual Error Code (Stop Code)  that appears on the BSOD or in the Event Viewer??  The log you give states steps to do, with an example only for the user)

2. How Far along does GMER get in terms of the area it is scanning at the time of the restart?

It could be a Rootkit / Bootkit what I have had in my head, but don't have enough info,  Or a Hard Drive problem that shows itself when scanners or the like are working.

At this point, I would say to copy off all your personal files like Photos, documents and anything else you want in case the problem gets worse.

Re: Comprehensive scan does not complete

Yep-removed all my zillas.

Downloaded gmer OK.  Same thing happens in both safe mode and unprotected: Load and start scan.  Scan runs a few minutes, then screen flashes and computer shuts down.

Restart says serious error.
