Curious connection problem.

This may be a moot point but maybe someone can see a solution.

Windows 7 Professional 32 bit, Internet Explorer 8, Outlook 2010, wireless operation, Norton 360 ver 4.3.0.5.

No problems when using our office Linksys.

When on the road and using wifi offered by hotel/motel, I cannot to any email through Outlook.  I also can't connect directly to our business Web Mail.  The only way I can get through to anything is to log into the Charter Web Mail.  That's ok, however, I also have another business email address using different servers.  At Charter I can collect only Charter directed email, none of the other email.

I've tried shutting off the Norton Firewall and using Outlook and also entering the business link directly but cannot connect either way.  Could there be another setting that I've missed in Norton 360 that would prevent this or is it just a quirk of the wifi setups used by most hotels or motels?  Other friends that I've talked with seem to have no problems when they're on the road (not our company representatives, just friends from other companies or personal travel.)

Re: Curious connection problem.

If you turn off the Norton firewall and are still unable to connect, I would say that it is likely an issue in the Windows settings that is protecting you.
