I came across a situation today, would like some more light to be shedded on it, if anyone would like to help.
A friend of mine has a CA AntiVirus and also had an old Norton Internet Security subscription.
My friend deciced to use the Norton and cancel the CA Anti Virus.
Before uninstalling the CA AntiVirus, he ran a scan on his system with that and it gave about 7 threats.
He said he would like to install Norton and run scan again.
So we uninstalled CA AntiVirus and installed Norton and ran the scan.
However, we did not get any threats detected using norton.
Am just curious, is that normal?? Is there anything else my friend can try to see if there is any virus infection on his PC?
Any reply would be appreciated!! Thanks.
Tamy.

Hi Tamy
Every Antivirus Product have their own set of False Positives which are detected by certain AV's and some AV's ignore them.
For eg: Some advertisement toolbars were considered as threats by some AV's and some will ignore them as they are no direct threat to the PC.
If you could provide us the Details about those 7 threats it will do more good to identify the issue...
And do not lose your curiosity as it is the Seed of Discoveries....![]()

Did CA remove the threats or quarantine them before the Norton scan? Also, what were they? In cases of spyware and adware, not all vendors consider the same programs as unwanted.

Thank you all of you for replying ![]()
Really appreciate.
Unfortunately we did not get time to gather more information on the threats, and I think it could be as Subash has said!!
Would be more careful next time.
Dave, thanks for that forum info would use it from now incase of any testing.
Regards
Tamy
