Did Norton 360 let in a virus?

A few days ago, the buttons on my laptop mouse pad began behaving erratically.  Mostly it doesn't respond, the scrolling icon appears instead.  Consequently, using the compuetr is extremely hard work  I contacted the Dell website and found myself on DBS which turned out to be a site that deals with cleaning up files/hard drive etc.  After inspecting the laptop's hard drive they concluded that the computer was running very slowly and that Norton was not working properly and may have let through a virus that attacked the mouse pad.  This is supposition of course.  But as Norton automatically updates on my computer, how come it wasn't working properly?  DBS cleaned up the computer removing a great many problems, which I thought was Norton 360's job?

It cost me £199,99 and the mouse is still  not working proiperly.

Hi Freddies,

Third-party tech support companies will often say things that are designed to induce users to buy their support packages.  The problem you describe sounds more like a technical problem than a malware issue.  Have you tried contacting Dell Support again?  It may be a driver issue, or something similar.
