I'm trying to download a software program that I have used for years and know to be safe, but Norton 360 keeps removing the saved file for some reason. I can't understand the reason as it is written in jargon above my understanding. How do I turn this funtion off long enough to get my software loaded on my new computer?

If it's not confidential could you give us the URL to download from and we can see what happens and then it's easier to sort things out.
Could you also tell us what version of Norton 360 you have installed -- Support / About will show you the Version ID which is a number group like nn.nn.nn.nnn where n is a number.
And also what version of Windows you are using including Service Packs and whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit. WINKEY + Pause keys will show you that information and if it does not say 64 bit then it is 32 bit ....

Hi astronum1,
If the file is being removed as a WS.Reputation.1 detection, then it is only the file's reputation (or lack thereof) that is causing Norton to take the prudent path. If you are absolutely sure that the file is safe, you can turn off Download Intelligence temporarily for the time that it takes to download and install the program. Leave Auto-Protect enabled so that you will have some protection, should the file be concealing malware.

See the message from SoJ about dealing with reputation matters .......
Looking at the website it looks like stuff for sale so I have not tried downloading anything.

Right, they are a seller of astrology software. They have been a leader this this for many years. I did disinagage the firewall in order to get my software downloaded. They also recommended this as they have had problems with Norton previously. I would say this is a decided weakness in the Norton 360, and should be addressed. I do very much appreciate your help!

SoJ knows much more than I do about all this but I don't think it is a weakness when you are advised of a situation and there is a way to deal with the result.

Unless you are behind a router, it is never advisable to disable the firewall, and it should not be necessary anyway.
