Hi rdes,
Here is the Knowledge Base Article regarding the error code you have received:
If no joy please continue thru the steps at the bottom : (Please export/backup your ID Safe data if you use it for log-ins)
If still no joy, even if you get no errors from the remove and reinstall tool, please run the Norton Removal Tool which is suggested at the bottom of the page.
After trying those basic steps and still no joy, itmay be time to look at Bull Spits link - please ead the entire link as there is more to it than what was linked to.
Keep us posted.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, call Norton Live for help with this issue. After 4 days, dozens of techs remotely connected to my computer doing God knows what and countless hours on hold, my problems were still not solved. Now they are not calling me back as scheduled and when I try to get back to someone who can help, I am placed on permahold. This cost me $140. For nothing. After trying all of the suggestions in the forums I finally gave up and uninstalled (through the Control Panel) Norton and, what do you know? I can, once again, connect to the internet. I installed AVG and ran a scan which immediately identified a threat from, guess what? The LogMeIn chat window I downloaded as instructed by Norton Live. I have requested a refund of my fees and will also be requesting a pro-rated refund of my renewal fee since I can no longer use Norton.
In reading this forum, this is not an uncommon issue yet the "paid experts" don't know how to fix it. I find this a bit mind-boggling. I have always found Norton to be a reliable company. However, their obviously outsourced support center is just not up to snuff.
