My job entails sending executable zipped files between a central server and my PC. These files all have different names (coded to indicate the day and time of transmission) so they can't be generically identified as good guys. Insight has asked a few times if I trust the file I have received, and I have been able to answer yes, and away we go. Today, however, it didn't ask - it just removed it. Where has it gone? How can I get it back? I can't ask the server for it, because once it has been sent it is no longer available to resend (without human intervention, which will take days).
In the meantime, I have turned Insight off to prevent this happening again. A better option would be to turn it off for only the folder where such files go - is this possible?

Hello PhillipEscott
Welcome to the Norton Users Discussion Forum
I believe that there is a problem with the insight function of the program. There is a thread about this over in the NAV/NIS section of the Forum also..
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Hi Phillip,
There is a thread in the Norton Internet Security forum that discusses the issue you are having (the same underlying Download Insight issue that you are facing is being experienced here as well even though it may not be obvious from the discussion thread):

There is a fix in progress that should be coming online within a few hours. The fix will be done on the back-end, so it should be transparent to you and resolve the issue you are having. In the meanwhile, you can see if you can access the deleted files from the quarantine.
I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your bearing with us.

If those zip files are quarantined, please restore them from the Quarantine folder(Check it in Tasks > Check Security History). Then run Liveupdate to get the latest definitions, and then run a Comprehesnive Scan. Check whether the virus scan detects it as a threat. If it is not detected as a threat, then you can ignore the detection from the Norton Insight Scan for time being. This may be corrected in the later updates.

Hi Yogesh
Would it be better to run liveupdate first and then restore the files from quarantine?
Mike

I've been having these problems too, as have many of my colleagues. we work for a large institutuion that requires us to download files of the type described by Philip on a regular basis. It is getting to be a real hassle to download and no 'fix' has yet found it way to my computer.
Can you say exactly when a fix will be found so that we can get on with our jobs rather then fiddle about with Norton to get our work downloaded?

Hi Roma
What Norton Product is still giving you the issue addressed here? If you are all running Norton 360, have you run liveupdate to ensure the latest updates are installed on your machines?

The fix doesn't yet seem to be providing the help we need. Is there any progress you can report?
