When a "High CPU Utilization" alert message is displayed and I click on "Details & Settings"
the following is displayed:
If I go into Performance and then to "Security History" and click on "More Details"
the same Error message as above is displayed.
This has been going on for over a month. I've uninstalled & reinstalled N360 to no avail.
Any help or clues will be appreciated.

Welcome Rory42,
We should be able to help you but we'll need some help from you first. Tell us about your system - OS, Version and product you are runniing, any other security software that is installed. Just the basics but all of them please.
This isn't a new problem but if you can remember details about when it started they will be useful.
Looking forward to your response.

Hello Dick,
W7U x64 OS
i7 CPU
Running World Community Grid with BOINC Manager software at full tilt. I first noticed the problem after reinstalling the system and then N360 around the end of March. The computer name was changed during system recovery. No other security than N360 6.2.1.5.
Let me know if any additional info is needed.
Thanks, Rory

Rory,
I'm not too surprised that you have received that alert. The program does that even if only one of the cores is running full out. If you have a good cooling system and everything else is within tolerance I'd disable that alert and continue to march. I've had to disable the handles alert. ![]()

Dick,
The alerts are not the problem. I need to be able to ignore the problem for individual programs after checking out the details.

Hi Rory42,
Is this happening with every alert, or only certain ones? Your first screenshot is a little puzzling in itself, since the dialog box should be showing the name of a program or process. I have no idea what "Created under grants from the National Institutes of Health.." could mean. What was running at the time you got this alert? Where you at a website that corresponded to this?

Hi.
This happens on all CPU alerts (I've had no other alert). "Created under grants from the National Institutes of Health.." is the program description. The program and path are:
Category: Performance Alert
Date & Time,Risk,Activity,Status,Recommended Action
2012-05-24 14:11:23,Info,"High CPU usage by: Created under grants from the National Institutes of Health National Institute of General Medical Sciences grant numbers P01 GM48870 and R01 GM069832. ",Detected,No Action Required
Category: Performance Alert
Date & Time,Risk,Activity,Status,Recommended Action
2012-05-08 0:25:51,Info,High CPU usage by: wcgrid_cep2_qchem_6.40_windows_intelx86 ,Detected,No Action Required
This one the program description is the same as the program name.
As to what was running: 11 other jobs with slightly different descriptions running the same program.

Almost sounds like you need more horsepower or fewer bolders in the wagon ![]()

Hi Rory42,
The reason you cannot see the details of this alert is because the details are provided by File Insight, which only displays information about certain file types. See the following KB article for the specifics:
You should still be able to exclude the program from Performance Alerts by opening Performance Monitoring in the Norton Settings' General Tab and clicking Configure[+] for Program Exclusions. You can then click "Add" and browse to the file to select it for exclusion.
