Norton 360

[Proz]

I have 360v3 running on my 3 pc's ... one on windows 7 , one on Vista Home Premium , and one on XP .

The log on the Windows 7 pc shows  " Connected to a Protected Network. (::0) " as well as the usual one for my router etc , the logs on the Vista and XP do not show this network (::0) .

Can anyone suggest what this network may be ,  i have searched internet but can't find anything about this .

All 3 logs show the same apart from this "other netwok " on the Windows 7 pc .

I have scanned with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and nothing is ever found apart from the usual cookies  .

Hi Proz,

Not sure how only one computer shows a new network. A network is in the Protected Trust Level when it has not been classified as Trusted, Shared, or Restricted. You remain protected from known attacks and all unexpected traffic from this particular network. So, there is no need to worry about protection for your computer. If you could provide the information on this network such as MAC address or IP Address from Security History, it would be more helpful.

Hi and thanks for the reply .... im trying to figure out how to capture the screen so i can show you the firewall and network connections screen . Forgive me if it doesnt work

I dont really understand the Teredo Tunneling stuff either as that doesnt show up on the other pc's either

Can you check the version of Norton 360 shown in Help & Support > About?

lt may be 3.5.2.10 which Symantec released 2-3 days before. This was an update patch released only for a particular set of users, and as some users experienced certain problems with it, Symantec had removed that patch/update. I think, only one of your computers received this update and that is why it is shown only on one computer. There is a new feature in the Firewall settings for this 3.5 version - Learn Automatic IPv6 NAT Traversal Taffic. If you have that, you may see the entry for "Teredo  Tunnelling Pseudo Interface" in security history, and the protected network entry is shown as a result of this.

The Windows 7 pc is version 3.5.2.10

The Vista Premium is Version 3.5.2.10 also

The XP is version 3.0.0.135

I will have a look for the " learn IPv6 "

Check in the Help files (Help & Support > Help) for more information regarding this IPv6 settings.

The Windows 7 pc has " Learn IPv6 " on ... the other 2 pc's dont , ie its turned off .

So is it better to have "Learn IPv6 " on or off .

It is not likely yet that you need IPv6.  That will be seen more and more as time goes on.  You could safely turn it off.

Win7 uses IPv6 by default in all the compatable software.  MS is trying to get the standard in use since it will help with the impending addressing challenges coming up.

::0 is the IPv6 address for your system.  Same as 127.0.0.1 is in IPv4.
