Going from Trend Micro Trial version to Norton 360 Standard

Hello All

My old XP computer died. I now have a new Dell  Win 7 Prof 32bit. This machine came with a trial version of Trend Micro preinstalled. I will be using this (although I really don't want to) until our N360 Premier subscription ends in a couple of weeks. Then I will get rid of TM and download N360 Standard. We have already purchased a 3 User Norton 360 Standard v 5.xx retail.

1. Is there anything I need to know about uninstalling TM? I will use something that's on their website (can't remember at this very moment what exactly it's called) to uninstall. But, have others had issues uninstalling the trial version of TM?

2. Would I be better off uninstalling TM now, installing N360 Premier, uninstalling the Premier before installing the Standard? I have another post that asks about the downgrading as it pertains directly to my husband's computer right now.

3. I also have Norton Ghost v 15 that I would love to install on this machine, but if I need to use the NRT, then...there's goes Ghost. I also have Roxio Creator, but I'll hold off installing that until I know if NRT (if needed) removes Roxio too.

4. Is there anything else I should know but don't know to ask about??

Thanks all for your help

Re: Going from Trend Micro Trial version to Norton 360 Standard

Here is the link with the instuctions to uninstall Trend Micro.

You can uninstall the Norton 360 Premier product before you install the Norton 360 Standard product. Uninstall via the Add or Remove programs, and NOT using NRT, so that you do not have any problems with Norton Ghost.

Norton Removal Tool does not remove or corrupt Roxio. I remember a few users reporting that NRT corrupts their Roxio, but this problem has been taken care of.

Re: Going from Trend Micro Trial version to Norton 360 Standard

Don't forget that for your new computer Norton 360 will start off as a 30 day trial.   After you correctly remove trend you could install 360 and be using it as a trial until your other systems expire.

Re: Going from Trend Micro Trial version to Norton 360 Standard

Thanks very much for your time and help.

Gawd, I hate Trend Micro: so far I've had to uninstall from Control Panel - Programs/Features and used the Trend Micro uninstall Tool Kit. BUT Trend Micro insists on staying with me: it has given me a folder containing multiple difference .exe files. (TM created this folder without my knowledge - by fluke I found a strange sounding folder name [32Bit] and with a little investigating discovered that it belonged to TM.)

Communicating with TM rep, and it seems that I have to download and run some more uninstall programs!!

I am  now running the 'trial' of Norton 360 Standard (for at least another few days), then will use the product key to Register the product.

Again, many thanks for your time and help, it's been greatly appreciated!

Re: Going from Trend Micro Trial version to Norton 360 Standard

Hopefully you have uninstalled all the active Trend stuff and all that's left are intermediary files concerned with updating etc. I htink NOrotn roduces a lot of those two and even their removal tool leaves some stuff if you look for it ... but it's not active.
