Help with FF4 Compatibility Update

Whom should I contact regarding having problems with the FF4 Compatibility Update?

I tried installing the update, but the Norton Toolbar will not appear on all the user accounts on this pc.  Some of the accounts, I see the bar, but others still show the bar incompatible with FF4.  How do I fix this?  I have tried removing and reinstalling FF4.  Currently, I am running 3.6.16 and I can see the bar.  I want to use FF4.  Any suggestions?

Re: Help with FF4 Compatibility Update

Login to Administrator Account, then uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Apply the Hotfix, run LiveUpdate from Norton program and restart the computer. Then check if the problem still persists.

Hi a123,

This seems to have something to do with the Firefox user profile.  For some reason not all profiles accept the Toolbar fix.  I solved the problem by backing up the problematic profile.  Then I created a new profile using the Firefox Profile Manager and started Firefox with the new profile - sure enough, there was the toolbar.  I then copied over the backed up contents of the original profile (ie., bookmarks, cookies, etc.) to the new profile and abandoned the old one, which I will delete after I am sure I no longer will need it.  Using the Mozbackup program simplified the process.  I did not copy my extensions, but instead reinstalled them.  Once reinstalled, my options settings remained intact.  It is not a difficult operation but if you are unfamiliar with working with Firefox profiles I would suggest reading up on the subject before doing anything so that you don't risk losing your profile data.  Here is a good place to start:

Re: Help with FF4 Compatibility Update

I uninstalled the old version and reinstalled FF4.  I tried to reinstall the hotfix, but the fix would not allow me to reinstall.  I still have the issue, but Thanks for your suggestion.

Re: Help with FF4 Compatibility Update

I created a new profile in my non-admin account and the Norton Toolbar is back.   Thanks for your help.
