Re: Help with trojan.patchep!sys and services.exe virus

Welcome,

Sorry we're meeting under these circumstances. I can recommend only two solutions. The first is to wait for user, volunteer Quads to see your message and respond. The other is to go to one of the sites listed below and work with only one of their experts. The rule is the same in all cases. You finish with the one that started the process. It is individual and please, no self-help fixes while you wait. They will only complicate the process.

If Dickevans is not going to do your system, go to one of the other forums.

Hi,

I'm very sorry but I do not have the expertise to assist you with this problem. My only purpose in posting was to alert you to the need to do nothing until one of the experts, here it's Quads, I don't know who they are on the other sites, was able to respond and tell you exactly what steps to follow.

I have to assume that I have offended Quads and therefore aplogize. I will also quit attempting to warn users in trouble not to make more trouble for themselves.

Re: Help with trojan.patchep!sys and services.exe virus

Hi,

My computer has been infected by the virus too and I think it is safe to say that I have removed it.

Here's the procedure I followed :

-restart your pc in safe mode

-navigate to the System 32 folder in your Windows folder

-locate "services.exe", right click and select cut

-move it to your Desktop

-open start menu and type : sfc /scannow press Enter

The System File Checker will scan and replace the missing services.exe with a new clean one.

-restart your computer normally, delete the services file you copied on your desktop.

-run Norton Power Eraser (downloaded here : http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx ), it will remove any additional file created by the virus.

Hope this helps !

people that give instructions but call it a virus when it is not

At least I can get a laugh sometimes.

Hello Quad,

You could be nice about it and instead of being so unpleasant, you could thank for a good solution .... not even a word on that...

pfff.... where is kindness gone to ??
