I want to know if they have the balls to offer a 6 month trial like mcafee.

Hi, avalanch,
Just a random thought:
If a company is having problems selling a product (for whatever reason) that company has to offer free or reduced rates to lure more customers.

Well the way I see it, they feel confident enough in their product to offer a 6 month trial. That is a pretty cocky move on their part too.

Major assumption there Avalanch .... <g>
"Desperate" would be my adjective ....
You can get Norton with 6 months or longer free trial when you buy certain PCs and at one time there was a much longer trial download available in Europe so I guess it it is a marketing ploy ....

cocky or desperate?
I like the idea that if it's working let's not fix it until it's broken
Feel free to change if you think it will improve your protection

Looks like an act of desperation to me. At the link you provided they claim " #1 in malware detection* ". When looking at the fine print, that claim goes back to 2009.
McAfee has been having problems and has not done well in any of the more recent AV testing results.

I am not sure that the length of a free trial offer says anything about a company's confidence in their product. It is, after all, a marketing tool. If you actually purchase the product, McAfee offers only a 30-day refund period, versus Norton's 60-days.
