How to restore if windows does not start?

Hello!

I want to start using Norton 360 backup feature but first I would like to know how to restore a backup if my windows does not want to start?

This can be done with other backup solutions.

Thank you! :)

Hi

Where did you backed up your files in the Secure online storage / in an external drive / on another drive ?

Are you trying to restore the stored data to another computer or in the same computer ?

Re: How to restore if windows does not start?

I have two partitions, one with windows and one for other stuff. I backed up the entire windows partition localy on the other one. Can I restore my windows partition if the windows doesn't start?

I think this feature is important for a backup software. The posibility to restore if can't operate on windows.

Waiting for reply. Thank you!

Re: How to restore if windows does not start?

HI allexif,

The backup feature in Norton 360 is designed to archive copies of your personal data, such as documents and photos, so that they are preserved in the event of a catastrophic failure of your PC or hard drive.  Generally, with this sort of backup, you would reinstall WIndows and your applications and then restore your data files.  In order to restore your entire system without reinstalling Windows, what you want to use is an imaging program like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image, rather than a simple file and folder backup program.  An imaging program can save you a ton of work and time in recovering your system from all sorts of calamities.  Both types of backup are important in order to guarantee that you do not accidentally suffer data loss.

Backing anything up to the same drive as the source data is not a good thing to do however, because if you lose that drive you lose everything, including your backups.  Always backup to an external device that can be physically removed from the PC and stored in a safe place.  For image backups, an external hard drive works best.  For files and folders you can also use CD/DVD, USB drives or online backup.
