I can't upgrade to Norton 360 v5

Hi,

My subscription to Norton 360 expired yesterday (15/08/11) and, instead of simply renewing my subscription, I elected to upgrade to Norton 360 v5 Premier Edition.  However, since completing my purchase the install keeps saying it's complete, yet when I open Norton it says I still have 360 installed and that it requires renewal.  I have tried Norton's virtual support tool, "Nathan", but that was as useful as a chocolate teapot!  I would greatly appreciate it if a human being could point me in the right direction as all of Norton's automated support options are just sending me in circles.

Many thanks,

Kerim

Re: I can't upgrade to Norton 360 v5

Kerim -- Hey what's wrong with chocolate teapots? Just don't try to make tea in them but they taste great, especially dark chocolate.

Sorry you had the baptism of fire with Nathan ..... here there be no dragons!

Anyway -- after you downloaded your N 360 Premier what did you do about the previous product -- N 360 Standard? Did you remove it and if so how?

If not please follow the following dual attack although it may not be completely necessary.

1 -- If you used the Identity Safe Export your data to a safe place so you can reimport it into the new installation.

2 -- Download the Norton Removal Tool as below to a place where you can find it again but do not run it.

3 -- Uninsteall your previous Norton product using the normal Windows Uninstaller and restart the computer.

4 -- Run the Norton Removal Tool -- if you are using VISTA or Windows 7 do this by right mouse clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as Administrator; this option is not available if you are using XP so just run it.

5 -- Restart your computer and run the Norton Removal Tool again and restart the computer once more.

6 -- Run the Norton 360 Premier that you downloaded and when it wants to activate click on the Subscribe / Reneew button and work your way to a box to Enter an Existing KEY and enter the KEY that you bought when you purchased and downloaded Norton 360 Premier.

This link Symantec Norton Removal Tool. will direct you to the Symantec Norton Removal Tool

If you don't have an actual downloaded file to installl N 360 Premier from you can download it from the link below:

Norton 360 v5 Premier: http://www.norton_com/n360p_5/    << version with 25GB of online storage

Make sure you get the right version since the keys are not interchangeable. SAVE the file where you can find it -- do not run it from the download site when Windows asks what you want to do.

You can download that file on any computer and transfer it to a thumbdrive to install on another.

Please let us know if you have any questions and also how you get on ....

Hi Kezza1919,

You need to activate version 5 Premier Edition using the new Product Key.  It sounds like your subscription status is still being pulled from the old key.
