Hi this is my first post so forgive me if i leave out necessary info.
I recently purchased a new laptop running Vista that came with 2 months free norton that I was using before installing my DVD copy of Norton 360.
During this period a malware called "Internet Anti virusPro" has installed itself on my computer.
Norton was unable to stop it or detect it on its scans.
I then installed Norton 360 in the hope of eliminating the virus but still Norton's software can not detect it.
Both a scan by Windows Defender and Spyware Doctor can see the threat but I am wary of using Windows Defender to remove it having read some forums, and Spyware Doctor needs me to purchase an activation code.
As I have purchased Norton I would have thought it would be able to deal with the problem without my needing to spend money with another company.
Also in my security control panel I see that Norton is turned off yet Norton itself says its protecting me.
If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated. Or even a UK number to call Norton on to speak them about the failure of their product.

Check this site: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-internet-antivirus
It has a clear article about deleting it manually, or install Malwarebytes Anti Malware (on the site under the manual steps you find a link to it) and remove the threat with that.

I would suggest that any Files you have of this Threat that you Submit it to symantec Security Response: https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi.
Remove instructions for AntiVirusPro: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.
Did you keep your Anti-Virus Product up-to-date with all the Definitions?
If, after following the Web Page I gave you to Remove AntiVirusPro does not work, I would Download, Install, Update, then Dis-connect from the Internet and do a Full Scan in Safe Mode.

Thanks to both of you for replying.
@ Papau,
I saw the article you were refering to but I really wanted to avoid manually removing the Malware. I know next to nothing about PC's as I usually use a Mac. But your help and time was much appreciated.
@floating_red,
Many thanks once agian.
I went through each step but everything to do with Norton was next to useless as all of the support files from Norton bare no relation to Norton 360 (the descriptions of the control panels are completely different to reality) And Norton 360 will not run in Safe Mode. I don't mean this to be a pop at you but I am extremely annoyed with Symantec.
The freeware Malbytes worked with no problems however. I think it is disgusting that Symantec charge for a product that is beaten by a virus (it can't even detect the problem) that free software can get rid of. Also the support from Symantec is non-existant and if it wasn't for 2 people will to offer advice I would be stuck.
Thanks Once again to you both
And thanks for nothing Symantec

Hi, marianita,
I somewhat agree with you that other, Free, On-Demand Scanners are better than Norton, but it all has to do with the Virus Definitions Products have as they all will differ slightly from each other.
Is your Issue Resolved? If so, please could you Mark which Post was the "Solution" for future Users with the same Problem as you.
And you're welcome. :)
