The probable reason an infection can be missed by Norton is the very large number of new malware created every day. It can take some time to identify and create a fix for a new infection. Unfortunately, people can be the few that are the first to be infected.

I understand the issue, but the web is full of sites saying they have solutions to the problem. It would be nice to even be able to talk to Norton about the issue without hearing give us $99 to fix it. They didn't catch it and Norton can't even fine it when I do scans or the other things they say to run or try. :(

1. Download OTL hxxp://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe (change the hxxp to http) save it to your Desktop.
Double click on OTL.exe to run it. Right click OTL.exe and select run as administator for Vista and Win 7.
Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
Change file age to 60 days
Click on Run Scan at the top left hand corner.
Post back the log OTL.txt (attach)
2. Download AswMBR hxxp://public.avast.com/~gmerek/aswMBR.htm (change the hxxp to http)
Run the scan, with definitions if it asks, But do not have it fix anything when it is finished Just create a log and also attach.

thanks, I think I'm just going to call my local tech and have him look at it. Not a happy Norton owner. I've lost all faith in them now. I think I just purchased my last symantec product and given my last good review on them. thanks for the help

I really think you should give Quads a chance. If you search the forums here, you will see he has helped many users with very difficult problems.

I really do appreciate the offer. Had my buddy over this morning and he has it fixed. Malware and registry issues. I'm still not happy with Norton. I thought it was a fine product with great support till now. Norton helped me over a year ago with a problem, but now you can't even get a hold of them for help without paying them. I'm still very concern that all the care I take on my PC that Norton didn't catch the problem up front or at least be able to find it and fix it later. I understand thousands of these bugs go out every week and it's hard to catch them, but isn't that what I paid Norton good money for? Thanks everyone.
