I have downloaded Norton 360 v6 on my desktop and when I open it to install, I receive a message from Norton Download Manager that "installation is waiting for a restart". I have restarted 7 times and each time I get the same message when the computer first opens up. I can not get past this message. I have uninstalled 3 times and downloaded the program from the Norton website 4 times. I have successfully installed on 2 other PC's. Any suggestions?

Hi,
What are the hardware and software specs of the problem computer?
Thanks

Specifically, what security program did you have installed before downloading Norton 360?

I had McAfee before. I uninstalled that program - thinking it was causing a conflict. But after removing McAfee, the same issue keeps happening.

Hi mslifka,
It appears you have already removed McAfee via the Control Panel. In most cases the McAfee removal tool must also be run. Go to this link, http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS10
Please provide the information dickevans requestd above in you next reply along with if the removal tool helped any.

Same issue here. I had already run mcpr.exe from McAfee prior to attempting the Norton install (and rebooted once done). Then ran the Norton Removal Toll to clean up any previous attempts at a Norton install. Also manually went through the registry and deleted any key with Norton as a value. Mulitple reboots and still every time Norton DLM comes up and says Installation is waiting for a restart.
Since I didn't want to go unprotected, I installed the retial 30-day demo and that went off without a hitch. Seems to be an issue specific to the Norton DLM.
System is Win7 64-bit SP1. Also, the DLM is from the Comcast link provided as a customer.

Hi marcbf,
Nice piece of information (in red above) - so we are in fact dealing with Norton Security Suite and not N 360.
I think this download may work for you: http://www.norton.com/nss - I do believe it will bypass the download manager. Just remember to run LiveUpdate (rebooting as requested) until it specifically responds "no updates found".
Please keep us informed.

Thank you very much for the link. I forgot that Comcast is now NSS and not 360. Hopefully at least a second instance of DLM beingi n an endless loop will help someone else. WIll let you know how it goes regardless.
