Issues with Identity Protection password after using restore identity safe

I have discovered that my identity safe password never works after I have used the 'restore identity safe' feature.  I initially thought I had done something wrong but having had to reinstall norton 360 for various reasons over the last year around 3/4 times my identity safe password NEVER works after importing my backup of identity safe.  I am not talking about the password for accessing the backup (I never ever set one), but the actual password that I know and love when logging into identity safe!  My only option is always to just create a new identity safe, and reset up all my saves user names and password which kind of defeats the object of being able to back up my created data!  Any thoughts on this, my password never changes, its always correct, what happens to it when using restore?!?!?

Re: Issues with Identity Protection password after using restore identity safe

Hi Frozenreads,

Welcome to Norton Community!

Backup the Identity Safe data as a .npm file to any of your internal drives, and keep a copy of it in a CD/Flashdrive. Log out of Identity Safe, and reset the Identity safe profile by providing empty password twice. After reset, if it finds your previous profile, it may ask for the password. Provide the password, and check whether all the login works. If the problem persists, restore the Identity Safe data using the .npm file you have taken.

 Let us know the results.

Re: Issues with Identity Protection password after using restore identity safe

The problem only occurs at the point I restore the .npm file.  After a fresh install of Norton 360, I switch on Identity Safe Protection at which point it asks me for a password.  I use the same password that I have always used.  I then select restore Identity Safe Protection and it seems to restore fine.  At that point when I go to type in my password to log in, it no longer recognises it, even though its exactly the same password as I have always used and always will.  This has happed every single time I have had to back up and restore my .npm file.  Please do not confuse this with the password used to protect your .npm file when backing up. I always leave this blank, its the login password that always no longer works after restoring an .npm file.

Re: Issues with Identity Protection password after using restore identity safe

Hi FrozenReads

can you try the below

Under the Indentity Safe (In the main UI)->Identity Safe Password & Security ->Password Security

check the radio button to the Option"No Password needed .Automatically log me in when winodw is started"

or

In the "manage Login" select the login and in the right Pane of the details -> Uncheck the "Require Identity Safe password before filling"
