I am using Windsows 7 (new upgrade) and when the Norton Background Scan feature comes on it locks up the computer, and I have to to a hard re-boot. Ae long as I am constantly using something it doesnt seem to engage, but as soon as it does, it locks up. Any suggestions?

What is the version of Norton that you have? Check under Help & Support >about. It should be at least
16.7 the latest version of 2009 or 17.6 the latest version of 2010.
Do you have any other security software on board that might stop Norton from scanning?
