Re: N360 2.0 sucking up my resources

QC,

There have been all sorts of limitations over the years but I'm referring to a specific:

<< Vista 32bit can see only 3.5GB of ram total. The new sp1 only reports how much memory you have intalled, not how much memory you can use. >>

which is taken from a discussion on the MSDN website and the limitation is inherent in 32 bit systems.

A good practical account is: Dude, Where's My 4 Gigabytes of RAM? by someone I respect.

I was not relating any limitation to the present problem but it was just a trigger to find out which system the OP was using forreasons explained in the thread.

Re: N360 2.0 sucking up my resources

N360 sometimes would suck up resources on my P4, because it was silently removing malware. I would find out only when N360 told me that a restart was needed to remove the malware completely. Please run a full system scan w/ N360 and also with an online scanner. I have found luck with NOD32's online scan.

huwyngr,

Thanks for posting that article, its very informative.  I stand corrected.

Vista SP1 now reports the total installed memory in the system properties window, so if you have 4GB it will say 4GB even on a 32 Bit system.  Depending on the chipset and other factors, it may only use 3GB but it still is possible to use 4GB, which is the maximum.

Re: N360 2.0 sucking up my resources

I was referring to EVE, a locally installed game (and very large), but is multiplayer.

I just uninstalled the add-on pack and I will see if it does it again.
