N360 v5 quietly closing on Win 7 64bit

Over the last 7-10 days, I've noticed that N360 is quietly closing or dying on my system, not even giving so much as a warning message that it's being closed or shutdown. I have to restart my computer in order to get it running again, and I have no explanation for this behavior. When I attempt to restart N360 without rebooting my computer, Windows can't resolve the executable for some reason from the desktop and start/Windows menu short cuts. The N360 gadget I loses the status indicator and the buttons go gray and clicking it does nothing.

I'm not sure if this is related to any Windows or N360 updates; I just noticed it start happening one day, and I can't even give you an estimate about any interval in which it occurs.

Hi rcrodgers622,

Do you have any other security software running on the PC?

Maybe I missed something, but I haven't seen any indication that the v6 upgrade is free; I got an offer a week or two ago to upgrade for $40 or so, but I'm a tad broke at the moment.

No, just Norton 360.

As long as you have a valid license, you can upgrade to V 6 free of charge.  There should be  an option for New Version Check in the dropdown menu under Support on the main page of N 360.

Thanks, I was unaware of that. I have the new version installing now, and will keep an eye on this issue for the next few days.
