NOrton Back up question

Hello,

I have norton security suite and norton Back up (not online storage).

I'm just wondering that if I back up some files and then delete them from my computer will the files still be on the back up after I run the back up again?

Incase that seems confusing lets say I have a picture called 1a1.jpg on my hard drive. I run norton back up and back it up to my external Hard drive.

I then delete the picture 1a1.jpg from my computer so the only copy is on the external hard drive.

A couple days later I run norton again. will the back up delet the file from my back up on the external since it no longer resides on my internal hard drive?

Thanks in advance

Welcome,

Let's keep it simple. When you make a backup you make a copy of the file in another location. What you do with the original after that has no impact on the copy. If you find you need the file you have the backup copy which you can restore to your computer and continue to operate.

Hope this helps. If I missed the point ask again and I'll ty again :smileywink:

Re: NOrton Back up question

[ Edited ]

Thanks,

I think what im wondering is will the backup program alter the file on the back up (on later runs) if the original file is altered.

The reason I ask is I was looking at carbonite at one time and they will delete your backed up files from their servers if you dont have the file on your computer for 30 days. I'm just wondering if norton will do that, and if I edit the file will norton pick up on that and re-back up the file like a incremental back up.

basically im backing up about 100gb of photos. I dont want to delete a file from my hard drive and then run the back up again and have norton realize the file is no longer there and delete it from the backup also.
