Re: Cannot boot computer after running Norton Power Eraser

Your MBR is OK

You can delete the 2 files located in  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\ manually if you like.

Then you can go on your merry way.

I am about to go to work, will be back later on, in the meantime your message needs to have it's own thread and I need slightly more info.

Re: Need help getting computer to boot after using Power Eraser

I don't know if the issue is resolved yet, so this might help.

I'm a (fairly experienced) second year level 3 IT student, so I can get a good picture of the issue at hand.

If you still have the Windows install disk, system manufacturers recovery or rescue discs, or can access the recovery partition of your system hard drive, you may be able to repair the missing .dll file by booting into them, this might require changing the boot device priority in the BIOS, so be careful there, as if the BIOS settings are not set correctly, it could screw up the BIOS completely. Please ONLY ACCESS THE BIOS IF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO, if you DON'T know what to do, then DO NOT access the BIOS at all!

I should mention that NPE CAN SOMETIMES produce FALSE POSITIVES, identifying legitimate and clean files as infected, due to the nature of how NPE detects infections.

Try those methods and let us know if those work.
Collie21 tries to be accurate but may make the odd mistake from time to time.

If you notice a mistake he has made, please PM him and let him know and/or leave a reply in the thread to point it out to him.

Thanks.

This thread is now solved, as seen by the fact at Windows loaded etc. So ignore collie21's post
