Need to RENEW, but on a new computer...

My current laptop is in its last days...I am awaiting the arrival of my  new laptop, and would like to put my renewed Norton 360 3.0 version on that.  Will this be possible?  My current subscription will only last one more day.

Re: Need to RENEW, but on a new computer...

You should actually purchase the new version now.  You will be able to renew your present machine using the new activation key and then install the version 5 on the new computer.  If it is coming with a Win 7 operating system, I can't remember if v 3 is compatible.  The new v5 is also cheaper than renewing the older version.  Let us know what you decide and we can walk you through an upgrade to the old machine if you wish.  We will give you a link to download N360 when your new one arrives.

Re: Need to RENEW, but on a new computer...

Does your new laptop come with any security program? If so what is it and is it a trial and for how long is the trial period? If you are not sure please give me the exact make and model ID and I can look it up and see what they say.

Do you want to continue using your present laptop until the new one arrives? If so it will be OK to renew your subscription on the old one since you will be able to transfer the subscription to the new one and install N360 V5 on that.

The cheapest way to get N360 V5 is probably to go out and buy one from one of the retail stores with massive rebates that will be in their weekend flyers out Sunday. For example in last Sundays flyers I see one store where you can buy it for $49 after a $30 mail in rebate with another $20 mail in rebate if you are updating, which you are.

But if convenience is more important to you than price you can renew online at the Norton Store -- there's a link up at the top of this page and probably on your N360 as well.

Please let us know about the question of security application preinstalled since if it is not exactly what you want -- say N 360 Standard version with 2GB of free OnLine storage then you have to remove it with additional cleanup tools that we can link you to.

And we can give you a link to download the latest version of N360 V5 which may be more uptodate than the one on any disk you buy.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Need to RENEW, but on a new computer...

I have a similar problem. My 2 year subscription to Norton 360covering 3 PCs  is only 3 months old and I have a new laptop. In my account, the download button isn't available. How can i get coverage for my new laptop?

Re: Need to RENEW, but on a new computer...

You can download a single installation file for Norton 360 as below:

New N360 V5: Click on the link that matches your version:

Norton 360 v5 Standard: http://www.norton.com/n360s_5/  << version with 2GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Premier: http://www.norton_com/n360p_5/    << version with 25GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Standard Netbook Edition: http://www.norton.com/n360sne_5/   Netbook Edition  << version with 2GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Premier Netbook Edition:  http://www.norton_com/n360pne_5/   Premium Netbook Edition  << version with 25GB of online storage

Make sure you get the right version since the keys are not interchangeable. SAVE the file where you can find it again -- do not run it from the download site when Windows asks what you want to do.

You can download that file on any computer and transfer it to a thumbdrive to install on another.

Then it asks you to activate it you can click on Renew or Subscribe and enter the key there.

Before you install it on the new  computer please post here what ecurity program came installed on the new PC so we can tell you how to remove all traces of it to stop it interfering with the new program.

Anyway when you have installed the new version on the new computer you go to activate it using the KEY from the old installation that you can get from the MyNortonAccount on line. So if you just point the new installation to your MyNortonAccount -- don't make a new one -- it should pick up the key automatically.

If it tells you that you have exceeded the permitted number of activations -- which it would if the old installation was a 1 PC version -- then contact Customer Support by OnLine Chat as below. Similarly if you have a 3 PC version and it uses one of the activations that you want to keep available; if you have removed from the old PC just tell Customer Support this and they will update your account.

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

If you've any questions or problems you know where to find us ...
