Norton 360

After installing the new version of 360 (version 20.1.1.2) on two different computers running windows 7 ultimate x64, when I boot up my machine(s) all of the other background processes launch normally, but there is at least a 30 second delay until 360 launches and untill that point, zero cpu or disk activity. The previous version I had, 6.3.1 or something like that didn't have this delay.

Is there a way to change this, or was it introduced as a forced option in 20.1.1.2?

There is an option called Boot Time Scan that you can turn on. This will load Norton at turn on, but will slow startup a little.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. the n360 icon talke almost a minute after all the other icons load.  the prior version loaded quickly. another annoyance i found is i can't login to ID safe wia the toolbar.

Actually, the problem lies IN the updates. I already checked, everything is up to date. I've restarted my computer several times before I posted here and to no avail either, same behavior. Also, I'm experiencing the same problem on a clean install and an update (on different computers). So, it is clearly a problem with the current version of 360.

Also, I tried turning boot time protection on to the "normal" setting, and although all the background processes take longer to launch than they used to with version 6, it's not as bad as having to wait another 30 seconds after they launch for 360 to launch. It's like there's a static timer that controls when 360 launches without boot time protection turned on in the new version.

After several restarts, it seems that boot time protection doesn't change anything. It still takes about 30 seconds for 360 to launch after all the other background processes launch during which there isn't any cpu or disk activity.

The appearance of the Norton icon in the system tray does not necessarily correspond to the startup of your Norton Program - at least that was true in the past.  While something may have changed with the 2013 program, it is still possible that the program is launching as expected at startup, but that the icon is delayed.  You might check Windows Task Manager to see if ccsvchst.exe is running before the appearance of the icon.
