Norton 360 Compatibility

Is Norton 360 V6.3.0.14 compatible with Immunet Protect 3.0?  Also, I tried to protect SMTP port 587 in Windows Live Mail 2011 and there was a compatibility error.  Is there any way to fix this problem and are my emails still being scanned before I open them?  I have a Windows 7 pc and my Norton is provided through Comcast.

Looking at the web site for Immunet Protect, it is a real time virus scanner, so no, it will not be compatible with Norton products.

It is strongly recommended by all security software companies that only one real time scanner be installed at one time. With more than one installed, they will both be trying to scan the same file at the same time and will fight over who has control. This will at least slow down your computer and worst case it will freeze or corrupt your computer.

You will have to choose between Norton Security Suite, which gives anti virus and firewall , plus other utilities and backup, or another solution.

If you choose to use Norton, you will have to fully remove any other security software with that software's removal utility.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Re: Norton 360 Compatibility

Hi Weatherman,

First of all, the best thing you can do is uninstall Immunet - regardles of what it says about being compatable with other AV programs.

I know Comcast customers are guided toward installing it as a result of a posible BOT notification from Constant Guard - however what peterweb states is the best advise.  You need to get rid of Immunet.

If you are receiving your emails thru Comcst - they are being scanned by them prior to you receiving them and Norton scans everything prior to it being opened.

Thanks. Is there a way to report phishing emails to Norton?

Normally you would report Phishing emails to your ISP (Comcast).  See the following link and click on the Report Phishing and Spam Issues  link.
