Interesting thoughts and great discussion! Without disclosing too much, let's just say great minds think alike. There's a lot of snake oil products out that don't really do anything meaningful at the end of the day.
We're looking at a lot of different techniques/technologies to squeeze the most performance out of every machine. Some of these things will get into N360 v3.0 and some will be queued up for subsequent releases, but we're trying to separate the theorhetical from what will actually deliver some perceptible improvements across different platforms, hardware, browsers, etc.
BTW, if you haven't refreshed your Beta build. Try out the latest - you might notice some performance improvements...
