I have a different issue. I have my backups, 2 computers, going to an external 300 GB hard drive and I keep watching the space disappear although haven't been adding many new files to the folders being backed up? Is there an automatic process of deleting old files etc? I haven't compared the "backup folder" size to the folders being backed up, but there is no way it will match? One of the computers backups failed today because of lack of space, what to look at and what to do? Thanks.

I am confused, when go into the backup folders all the files etc. have goofy names so how am I supposed to be able to know what to delete? Also, are you saying that there will be multiple copies of the same file in the same backup because that is the only way I can see 40 GB of files growing to take over 150 GB of space?

Hi bjchantry -
If possible could you use some examples for size so I can fully understand the problem you are having?
For example:
My configured backup is x size, but on the disk my backup is y size.
Backup in Norton 360 will automatically scan your computer based on the categories you have selected. This means that if you have Pictures selected Norton 360 will automatically look for any new or changed pictures on your computer(s) and will back them up as necessary.
In addition if I could get some more info about your installation:
What version of Norton 360 are you using?
What version of Windows are you using?
Thanks.

Hi Shally -
The N360_Backup folder contains all of the backup data on the backup location. For a local backup (which is a backup to an external hard drive, network share, or to the local disk) deleting this folder will remove all of the Backup data on that location. This means that if you have multiple computers backing up to a single external drive or network share that the backup data from both computers will be gone.
I would recommend caution when deleting this folder unless you are sure that you do not need any of the Backup data on the destination.
Thanks.
John
