Norton 360 blocking network connection ?

I got a new laptop and installed N360 (from Comcast) - as I had done with several other computers in my home office.

I cannot access any other computers in my network, even though it sees all of them. Error message says something like "network path not found...remote computer is online but not responding to connections attemps on port 445, possibly due to firewall or security settings..."

The other computers on my network (running W7, Vista and even XP) can see this new laptop on the wireless network but cannot connect either. They do connect to one another fine.

Can anyone help please?

Welcome A T,

Have you gone into your network security map and made sure that all of your devices are listed/shown and theat they all have an appropriate rating? Are all of the computers running the same version of the same software? Since the other computers are able to communicate it sounds like the new kid on the block needs to get introduced and do a bit of handshaking all around.

Let us know how it goes, we'll leave a light on

Thank you Dick for the quick reply.

Yes, network security map shows all computers visible with Shared Trust. Two computers on the network run W7 SP1, one runs Vista, another XP. They all talk to one another. I'll be happy if this new one connects to the two W7!

HI,

If they are all running a Norton Product and they all show the other computers in the security map as shared trust then they should communicate. Make sure you haven't got some part of windows blocking things. All of the computers must have all of their other security programs uninstalled - just to be sure.

Re: Norton 360 blocking network connection ?

Apparently, it's not N360 issue, rather Windows OS network problem. This got fixed - so far, my machines are communicating - fingers crossed.  Thanks.

A T,

Great news! Glad things are working. Would you please mark this thread solved so that others won't be tempted to stop by and try to 'fix' things?

Thanks
