Hi can somebody help me with this problem? Every time I try to change my firewall settings I will get an error message " Symantec framework not working" and windows shuts it down. I wont be able to use my Norton until I restart.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1, on a HP Presario CQ56 Notebook. (I also have the same problem on my Desk-top win 7 pro 64 bit HP). For security I also Have Malewarebytes and Zemana Antilogger running. I don't think it's a compatibility problem because like I said, I have the same problem on my desk-top and I am only using Norton for security.
I recently renewed my subscription from regular Norton security to Norton 360. I am willing to give more info if needed, thanks in advance

Hi,
There is a known problem with the firewall changes causing the framework to fail. The team is working on it but they have not yet released a fix.
No help but the facts as they are today - which means that they are subject to change at any time
Stay well and surf safe

I read those posts and tried various remedies, I still have the same problem. As soon as I get to the settings page, within a couple of clicks it crashes. I give it time in between clicks and still it crashes. Hope there is a fix soon. This is a pain in the **bleep**. I appreciate that "they" are working on it, but I need to change my firewall settings. Thanks.

They have had 8 months to provide a fix and that has not happened. At this point in time, I feel the chances of this being fixed in the current versions is slim to none. They have been singing the same song in almost all of their posts: "We are working on it", for about 6 months.
I would not suggest holding your breath waiting for a fix from Symantec.
I have had success in working around this broken feature by clearing the "auto" entries, that allows me to enter any custom rules I want.
If you are unable to get that far, I would suggest resetting the firewall under the "General Settings" tab, that clears all rules.
I would think that would allow you to add new rules before it clogs itself with the auto entries and lays down.

Hey, I'm also running Win7 64-bit Pro SP1 in combination with other utilities (it's a custom build system though) and I would like to show you a workaround which I described in a screenshot in a recent thread. I have no idea if the workaround is mentioned in the two other threads that were linked here because I didn't look at those. I didn't have the time to spend wading through that many pages of discussion.
I hope this helps. If you've tried this already and it didn't work, sorry to bother.

Hey thanks for the advise, I just read your post and haven't tried but I am going to now, get back to ya.
OK, just tried your suggestion. This idea is fine if all you want to do is modify an existing entry. And you are right, this does indeed work. I modified several entries that I needed to block since I started to experience this problem. But as soon as I tried to add something, and as far as I could tell, the only way to add something is by pressing the "add" button. As soon as you do this however, the friggen thing crashes. This only started happening since I upgraded to 360. If this doesn't get fixed soon I will be going with another product.
Nice try anyways, you got me half way around the problem. More than Norton has done anyway.
Peace, and Thanks

Yeah, no kidding. And it's not like this is an isolated incident, I have been reading about all kinds of people with this problem. Maybe NORTON doesn't think this is a serious matter. I am not holding my breath though. Hope you all find a fix, and let me know as well, thanks, will be watching and I'll do the same.
