Hello...I have a strange issue. I have Norton 360 V6 on my laptop that is about to expire and trying to auto renew. The problem is that a few months ago, my husband bought a new subscription with 3 licenses, but it's V5. Do I need to uninstall 6 and reinstall 5? Also is a serial number the same as a product key? Thanks in advance for any help.

Has your husband installed that subscription yet? It does not matter that it is V5, the key will still work for your V6 without any reinstalling. Just click on renew from the main user interface, and look for a link that says something like I have a renewal code or key. You can enter the key from your husband's product there.
Note that the 1 year protection starts from when the key is first activated. If your husband activated a few months ago, the 1 year started then, even though you just installed now.
You mention auto renewal. If you are going to use the key from your husband's product, you will have to stop the auto renewal process. I would suggest contacting Norton Support via online chat and ask them to make sure the autorenew is removed from your current active subscription.
You can contact Support via online chat. They have the tools necessary to fix most issues. You will find them here www.norton.com/chat

No, a serial number is not the same as a Product Key. On your husbands system - open N 360 and click on Account on the main page. Log in with the email address ad password he used when he registered his N 360. On the first page in the Account, you can click on the gray arrow (>) by the N 360 product and it will produce a drop down that shows his Product Key. It will be a 25 digit alpha/numeric code. This is the code you need to use as Peter suggested.
I would also recommend that once you get yours renewed, your husband shuld then upgrade his version 5 to version 6.
If you or your husband use ID Safe for your logins, I also strongly suggest an Exporrt/Backup of ID Safe Data prior to either of you doing anything to your systems. IF you are at a lose as to how to do that, let us know and we'll help you with it.
Please keep us posted.

thanks for the info. I found the screens that I needed were there, I just didn't know where to look. the auto renew was irrelevent since the card was expired any ways and wouldn't go thru.;)
Thanks again.
