Norton 360 v2.0 Can it remove Vundo virus?

It seems to be able to detect the virus, but can not remove it.   360 (on XP) gets stuck in a loop where it tells you it detected the Vundo virus and you must reboot to remove it, so you reboot and it goes into the same loop where it detects it again and asks you to reboot....  So far not too impressed.

I was able to remove it by dowloading a free utility, I just find it pretty odd that Norton 360 cant do it and that you have to use another utility to get the job done.  I didn't spend $50 only to find out that 360 can't even solve the problem.  Thank you for the offer though.

Download the latest version of malwarebytes anti-spyware from malwarebytes.net

Remember to update when you install the program.

Re: Norton 360 v2.0 Can it remove Vundo virus?

I too found Norton incapable of removing Vundo.  Even the tool available on Norton's website won't do it.  I bought a spyware program that seemed to have helped (at least it was quarantining the files) and after a couple of weeks it stopped catching Vundo.  I'm not sure what finally fixed it, the spyware or Norton.  But I agree: it's a lot of money to pay for a program that doesn't remove a trojan and Norton doesn't provide support when their product doesn't work.  You have to pay them even MORE money to have someone dial in and repair it for you.  That's when I decided to stop giving my money to Norton.  They can't back up their product.

I find it to be a bit of a shafting that in order to get support for something thier product already should do they want you to pay additional money to help you get rid of a well known Virus.  Its pretty misleading that you would buy and Antivius called 360 when it should be more like 180.

I suggest you to try running the removal tool from the following link. This is provided by Symantec Corporation.
