Hi,
I don't want to use the Backup feature of Norton 360. I use another program for that.
Norton seems to be setting the Archive bit on nearly every data file on my PC. Is there a way to make it stop doing that? It is causing my other backup program to make unnecessary backups.
Thanks,
Joe

jszabo,
if you have another program that you'd like to use for backup and you don't want to use N360's backup you can click on the "backup" icon on the main page and when you get to the Backup Details page that show the last backup date there is a list of actions you can perform along the bottom of the page. One of them is 'disable backup.' if you click that link backup will be disabled and wont run on your machine anymore.
let me know if you have any trouble,
Adam

Thank you!
I had my backup set for "manual" and kept getting the alert that I hadn't completed my backup recently.
I made the change you suggested and immediately the red "X" went away, and I'm a happy camper.
Is this something new? I didn't realize it was there. I know during beta testing, "unnecessary" alerts was discussed frequently.

I believe the option has been there since version 1.0, but it's not the easiest thing to find. I think part of the confusion is the distinction between "Manual" backup and having backup disabled. Currently in the product Manual backup means that you still want to use N360 Backup but you only want it to run when you manually fire it off. Because backup is still being used it still affects your overall status by turning red after 14-days without a backup.
We understand that some user's already have backup solutions that they are happy with and won't want to use the backup capabilities provided by N360.
I'm glad to hear that you're a happy camper now :)
Adam
