I have had Norton 360 v3 for about 10 months and never had a problem until recently. The virus definitions are now 5 days out of date because the live update runs but ends with the message "Not all of the updates were successful."
I have a dial up connection, Toshiba laptop, XP sp3. I have scanned the computer with Norton 360 and Malwarebytes but no problem has been found.
I have downloaded and ran the intelligent updater 20100814-002-v5i32.exe which worked for a day but then the same problem has occured again. (The download of 79mb took 6.5 hours)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Norton 360 but it has not fixed the problem.
I have ran "luall" and get the message:
The following Symantec products and components are installed on your computer.
> LiveUpdate
Initializing...
Connecting to liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com...
All of the Symantec products installed on your computer are currently up-to-date. Remember to check for new updates frequently.
LiveUpdate session is complete.
However Norton 360 says that "Definitions Update 5 days ago. and there is a big red cross.
Can anyone help please?

Hi Butler,
Welcome to Norton Community!
First, check the Date & Time set in your computer and make sure that it is set correctly. Then try to run LiveUpdate again. As you have an active subscription for Norton 360, you can also upgrade to the latest version- Norton 360 4.0 available in Symantec Web site.

Hello Yogesh-mohan, Thanks for your reply. I am currently connected to the live update which has been running for 4 hours now. I am on dial up but that seems a long time to me. Also I cannot use my phone so it is not ideal.
The live update seems to be downloading and the Norton icon in the system tray is animated from the yellow icon to the blue arrow icon.
I have a few questions based on your suggestion of updating to Norton 360 version 4.
How big is the update to V4? (I am on dial up!) i.e how long would it take?
Is Norton 360 V3 live update not supported? (I am happy with Version 3)
Thanks for your help.

More information.
I have checked the date and time of the system and all is OK.
My wifes computer has the same problem. We both use the same dial up connection.
Thanks.

Used the Fix button and Live Update ran for at least 6 hours!
Got the message:
"To receive the most current updates, you must restart your system."
Ran the Live Update again and after 5 minutes got the message that the update was successful.
So for the moment all is well. Will see how it goes over the next few days.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi there,
It has been 3 days now and both laptops are being updated with no problems. So the problem has been resolved.
Not sure how it has been sorted out though.
Thanks for your help.
