Norton 360 v6 has De-Activated my online backup and account !!

Hi,

I bought and registered my Norton 360 in Aug 2011 - the product says I still have 479 days left on my subscription.

Everything was working fine until the latest v6 update - after which Norton keeps asking me to "RE-ACTIVATE my account with my new subscription so as to receive continued access".

I tried to see how I could re-activate - but there was no option for that. Further, why should I need to re-activate when there has been no "new subscription" ????

As a result of this "UNACTIVATED product" I have lost access to my workplace VPN as well due to "lack of anti-virus" on my system. I don't want to download any other anti-virus since I paid SGD 265  for this.

Please Help Soooooooon. THIS IS SERIOUS !!

Welcome swatigodbole

When you see the message to re activate, you should click on the button that says re activate (or whatever the wording is). If that is not there, you should see a Fix Now button on the main User Interface. Just click on this button and when prompted click on Enter Product Key. In that box, enter the product key for your existing subscription. If you do not have your key handy, you can retrieve it by logging in to your Norton Account.

The reason you have to re activate is that the new product is a different serial number, and until you activate that number, Norton servers do not know that you are authorized to use the product.

Re: Norton 360 v6 has De-Activated my online backup and account !!

Hi peterweb,

I did exactly that - clicked on the Fix Now button -- for the first few times it asked me to sign in to my account, which I did, and then it said, your account has been activated -- but nothing got fixed. Also, it *did not* ask me for the Product Key to be entered again.

Now when I click on the Fix Now button, it says "We are unable to proceeed with Norton Account at this time. Please try again later".

So I am really puzzled because what seemed to work as a possible fix, didn't end up fixing anything. And now even that is not working ...

From the main 360 User Interface, try clicking on Support - Subscription status. That should connect to the subscription servers and update the status on your computer.

I've got the same problem.

I've got 351 days remaining, signed in fine after doing the update and have checked subscription status and it says it have verified it (I checked sub status after reading this thread though). When I first hit backup to fix it it told me I had plenty of storage available. Rebooted too, but it still says I've got 0.00 space to run when I try running backup after it running a short while.

Welcome Breee

Which version of 360 do you have? Support About. Do you have the Standard or Premium version? How large a backup were you trying to do? Maybe you have used your alloted storage.

Re: Norton 360 v6 has De-Activated my online backup and account !!

Tried the support - subscription status as suggested. It gives me the correct subscription status alright but there is *no change* to the problem I have been encountering - ie. Norton asks me to reactivate product for continued access to online backup.

Also, I have tried clicking "FIx Now" several times but it keeps saying "Cannot proceed with norton account now - please try again later" - even though I am very much connected to the internet.

If I login to the norton account via the website, I still cannot see any way to re-activate the product.

Help awaited eagerly.

Re: Norton 360 v6 has De-Activated my online backup and account !!

Hello,

Subsequent to the last reply from you all, I was too busy and pre-occupied to try out these super technical steps only to restore the activation of my product that I should rightfully have never lost in the first place.

Anyway, I just tried the steps mentioned in the post suggested by you, even though it took me a while to figure out where all those cryptic folders and options were hiding !

THE PROBLEM HAS STILL NOT GOTTEN RESOLVED !!!

Even after doing the final step in that post, and re-starting my computer, Norton did ask for re-activation, I entered my product key and it gave me successful messages of online storage of 4GB - but when I go back to the main dashboard, the product still tells me there are 2 problems to fix and that storage is O KB!!!

IN SHORT, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS - i.e. my product is still unactivated and there is no online storage available !!

Attached are some screenshots...

WHAT ON EARTH DO I HAVE TO DO TO MAKE THIS WORK ???? THIS IS REALLY SHOCKINGLY DISMALLY DEPLORABLE PRODUCT SUPPORT AND PRODUCT UPDATE PROCEDURE.

(And I thought Norton was the best product there was out there ... Now I know better before I buy my next subscription ... Thanks so much !! )

Hi,

Based on what I'm reading about the problem and the recommendations you have another problem which needs to be resolved before your Norton product will function correctly. Have you run any scans with 360 or any other malware/spyware product? Do you have any other security product installed? The answeres to these questions will hel us to help you.

Should you determine that you would rather use a different product please download and run the Norton Removal Tool before you try to install the new product.
