I'm having a problem and am not sure what to do.
I noticed the Norton icon was missing from my system tray and tried to "start" it from the desktop, it won't start up.
Also, I'm having an issue with Firefox and Google Chrome.
When I click on them it says the webpage can't load.
I'm able to use internet explorer to get on the web but, every time I try to use something that uses administrator it goes to the can't display webpage screen.
I am logged on as admin.
The help section of Norton does the same thing. I'm at a total loss because there isn't any contact information that I can find on the website.
I have already restored back as far as I can go but it is still the same.
I hope I don't have to restore from the beginning.
Thanks in advance for any help. Tony

Sorry for my own reply but I didn't see an edit function?
It occurred to me that you would need some more information after reading through several possible related posts.
I'm running Vista home premium on a 64 bit computer.
My subscription is current and I have my product key in hand.
I ran a free eraser program from Norton before coming here and a couple of files associated with logitech were erased.
Also, Norton says I don't have any product installed?
Also, something else that's occuring recently.
My clicks seem to automatically "double click", my usual routines are not normal.
I hope I described that in a way you can understand.

sorry for the mess with computers and software some days are filled with greatness and others with grief, have you tried to reboot in safe mode and run norton in safe mode???

Thanks to your question I was able to download and upgrade to 360 .6
Downloaded in safe mode.
It's running a full scan now.
We'll see if it helps.
Maybe I uninstalled thinking I could reinstall with no problems, I just don't remember to be honest.
Too much is happening right now with this computer and other things.
I think I noticed it was gone from my system tray, tried to start it multiple times and when that didn't work uninstalled it.
To make matters worse, every time I went to the symantic website for help, I would get the message can't display the webpage.
So, I couldn't do anything at all.
Anyway, it's running now and I'll try downloading Firefox again and see if I can get back to normal.
Meantime, if anyone has any other ideas, I would sure appreciate them. Tony

Looks like going to safe mode and downloading Norton 360 and upgrading to 6. did the trick.
I just finished the scan and downloaded Firefox and installed it.
I was able to get to my banking site with no problems.
btw-I was getting bad_pool_caller blue screen error sporadically too.
GEEZ!
I left IT 20 years ago to get away from computer problems!
At least the IBM mainframe I worked on would diagnose itself most of the time.
Anyway, the one response I got here seemed to help me tremendously, I thank you for your help.
Maybe I can figure out how to give you kudos. Tony
